The focus of the semester is exploring the issues of peace, justice, and sustainability by engaging in a four-month living classroom.
The Woolman Semester campus is located at Sierra Friends Center in Nevada City, California, on 230 acres nestled in the foothills of the Sierras. Here, students spend their mornings in small, rigorous academic classes while afternoons are devoted to the hands-on work of the courses and the community: the garden and orchard, the kitchen, and the forest. Our program is designed to enrich a typical high school curriculum with seminar-style course work and hands-on lab work. Credit is awarded for core-curriculum courses and any electives, math or foreign language, a student may choose to take. A transcript of awarded credits will be issued at the end of the semester to each student to facilitate the transition back to their home educational institution." Real2Reel Pictures created a 10 minute promo for the Woolman Semester in Spring 2005, then revised in Fall 2005. Click Here to go to the Woolman Semester website. |
